Amala Paul

 Lal Jose offered her a part as a supporting character in his film Neelathamara (2009) after she had finished her education. Despite emerging a hit, the film was unable to get any more offersas she anticipated. After pursuing roles in Tamil films, she signed for Vikadakavi which was a low-budget comedic film. It was delayed but ultimately was released as her sixth. She also signed on to play the leading role in Veerasekaran (2010). The film, which became her debut Tamil release, was disapproved of by critics and went without notice, and Paul's performance was labelled as "minimal", and she later admitted that she regretted making the film, and that many scenes from her film were cut out. Paul later went on to work in Samy's controversial Sindhu Samaveli (2010), playing the character of Sundari, who has an unsavory relationship with her father-in-law. She was approached after the bulk of her forthcoming film Mynaa were ready, and signed on for Sindhu Samaveli before listening to the entire narrative and claiming to be shocked but not upset with the controversial scenes that she was later exposed to. The film's director had previously drawn criticism for his portrayals of illicit relationships and for a smear on his former lead actress in a film however Paul did not dwell on the controversy, saying that she did not have a issues with the director. The film received mixed reviews upon its launch. A few critics could not rate it, while others expressed displeasure at the storyline. Paul stated that she was threatened with death by unknown callers, and was also confronted in a Chennai theater. Paul's subsequent release was the romantic-drama film Mynaa (2010), written by Prabhu Solomon, made her a recognised actress in the industry. After being impressed by the film, Udhayanidhi Stani and Kalpathi S. Ahoram bought the rights to the movie. Paul was the village beauty in Mynaa. The film was a huge success in the box-office. Paul won the Vijay Award as Best Debut Actress, and was nominated for the Filmfare Awards' Best Actress category.
